Jennifer Lopez is serving up some real talk about the “best and the worst” time of her life — and trust us, it’s juicy!
One year after calling it quits with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez is looking back on how their divorce cast a shadow on her career milestone. In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the Hustlers star revealed how landing her dream role of Ingrid Luna in the upcoming musical Kiss of the Spider Woman was bittersweet. Why? Because she was filming it right in the middle of her marriage falling apart. Talk about the ultimate juggling act.

“It was tough. It was a tough time. It was a really tough time,” J.Lo admits.
But as we know, J.Lo’s got that inner glow that refuses to dim. She shared how her career highlight was happening in parallel with some serious heartache, and it wasn’t easy to reconcile the two:
“It was the best and the worst of times in a way. Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then back home it was not great… But you get through it.”
Fast forward to today, and Lopez has turned the page to a new chapter. She’s now reflecting on how this tough time transformed her for the better:
“Honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Because it changed me. It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow… I’m a different person now.”
And she’s thriving! J.Lo says this summer was the best she’s ever had and that she’s now savoring every moment, embracing both the lessons and triumphs life throws her way:
“The hard times are the lessons… Once you do, everything just becomes a little bit lighter, and you can really, really fly. I feel like if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t understand that.”
Look at that growth, J.Lo! We’re all for it.
But wait, she’s not done yet — there’s still more to achieve. In true J.Lo fashion, she’s got big dreams ahead:
“I still feel like I want to fly higher, I want to see more, I want to do more things… But I’m going to savor them in a way that maybe in my 20s and 30s I didn’t.”
Yes, queen! Go ahead and soar. 🦅✨
And in a classy twist, J.Lo gave Ben Affleck some major credit during the interview. She acknowledged that her ex-husband was instrumental in getting the Kiss of the Spider Woman project off the ground, thanks to his production company with Matt Damon:
“That is right. I will always give him that credit… They financed it. I told him this was the role I was born to play and I wanted to do it, and he was like, ‘Okay,’ and helped make it happen.”
Wow. After such a public divorce, it’s truly heartwarming to see Jennifer Lopez rise above and give credit where credit’s due. That’s grace.
